WRITE DISCUSSION ON THIS SIDE – ÉCRIRE DE CE COTÉ

Discussion

In the 2000s, the scholar and specialist in French-language African literature Jacques Chevrier described the new generation of francophone African authors as writers of migritude – an echo of the writers of the Négritude, whose writing was based on the civilizing values of the Black world. Most of these writers lived outside the continent, especially in Europe and America, and their work was shaped by the reality of migration. What about African literature produced on the other side of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic today? Que signifie écrire en exil ou depuis chez soi?
