Dr. Ndongo Samba Sylla / Head of africologneDIALOGFORUM
Dr. Ndongo Samba Sylla is a Senegalese development economist. From 2006 to 2009, he worked as a technical advisor to the President of the Republic of Senegal. He is currently research and program manager at the West Africa office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation in Dakar. His publications cover topics such as fair trade, labor markets in developing countries, social movements, democratic theory and economic and monetary sovereignty.
He has published numerous collaborative works, written two books (La Démocratie contre la République. L’autre histoire du gouvernement du peuple, L’Harmattan, Paris, 2015; Le scandale commerce équitable. Le marketing de la pauvreté au service des riches, L’Harmattan, Paris, 2013) and is co-author of a book (with Fanny Pigeaud, L’arme invisible de la Françafrique. Une histoire du franc CFA, Paris, La Découverte, 2018). He recently co-edited the edited volume Economic and Monetary Sovereignty for 21st century Africa (Pluto Press, 2021). His work has been published in several languages and is regularly quoted in the international press. He was world champion in French-language Scrabble four times.
